What is an NDIS provider?
Nexus Care Services is a proud NDIS registered provider. NDIS provider is a person, corporation, or organization that provides NDIS-funded assistance to participants. Providers have various levels of experience and skill.
It’s critical to choose the best suppliers to match your requirements. Providers might be major corporations, charities, tiny non-profits, solo proprietors, or any other sort of company.
The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission oversees NDIS certified providers. All providers (registered or unregistered) must follow the NDIS Code of Conduct.
If your NDIS funding is administered by the NDIA, you can only utilize NDIS registered providers to deliver your services.
Participants who self-manage or have a plan manager handle their NDIS plan financing can employ NDIS registered or unregistered providers.

Meeting with an NDIS provider
Here are some things to consider before meeting with a provider for the first time. They may be able to assist you in determining if the provider and the supports and services they offer are appropriate for you. Before your meeting, you may be able to obtain some answers by visiting the provider’s website or speaking with the person who scheduled the appointment for you. You may also inquire with the supplier during the meeting.
You are not required to acquire answers to all of these questions, and you may have more inquiries.
You should write things down so you don’t forget.
- How can this assistance assist you with your disability-related needs?
- If you have already gotten this assistance, do you still require it/is it still beneficial to you?
- Is this help included in your NDIS plan?
- How frequently do you require this assistance? How long will the appointment last?
- What days do you want this assistance?
- What disability experience does the person who will provide you with the service have?
- How much will this assistance cost? (How does this price relate to the NDIS maximum price if self-managed?)
- Are there any additional expenses, such as travel or report writing?
- Can the vendor collaborate with you when you require it?
- How long does the provider anticipate you will require assistance?
- How can you make the most of these resources?
- What should you bring to the session?
- How frequently will the provider check in with you to see if the assistance is beneficial?
- What NDIS experience does the provider/therapist have?
- How do you pay the provider if you are self-managing? Do they send an invoice and receipt?
- Do you need to do anything for your plan manager to pay the provider if your plan is managed?
- What information do you need regarding the assistance?
- How can you switch to a different support or discontinue it when you no longer require it?

Can I use NDIS funding for Short Term Accommodation/Respite for family vacations or holidays?
Yes, in some circumstances, NDIS funding can be used for Short Term Accommodation/Respite during family vacations or holidays. However, it depends on the specific needs and goals outlined in the participant’s NDIS plan. The NDIS aims to support the individual’s disability-related needs and goals, and if Short Term Accommodation/Respite during vacations aligns with those objectives, it may be considered as a reasonable and necessary support.
It’s essential to work closely with your NDIS support coordinator or local area coordinator to discuss your vacation plans and how they can be accommodated within your plan’s funding. They will assess whether such supports are reasonable and necessary based on your disability-related requirements and the potential benefits of taking a break for both the participant and their carer.
Remember that the NDIS funding is meant to help participants achieve their goals and enhance their independence, so it’s essential to have a clear case for how the vacation or holiday respite will contribute to these objectives. Each case is considered on an individual basis, and the decision will be based on the participant’s specific circumstances and the available funding in their plan.
